The Press Box (Westminster Lanes) 6471 Westminster Ave, Westminster, Ca. 92863 (USA) has been around for many year. West Coast Swing on Friday night is a tradition that goes back to the Kenny Wetzel years & has lived on through many, many controversies, disappointments, oppositions, challenges, boycotts, petitions, numerous dance clubs and or dance organizations opening on friday night. Even with management changes over the years the Press Box still stand as one of the original location for West Coast Swing. Many dancer who help start the Press Box in the early years still come and enjoy (Friday nite at the Press Box). It's a Tradition that will go on as long as West Cost Swing Dancing exist. My good Friend & Guest DJ for the Press Box (Dav Koppelman) told me once. It's a pleasure and joy to work at the Press Box. The Tradition & longevity associated
here makes a person a little nervous but excited. We're glad to have him.
Recently the West Coast Swing Dance Club exchanged managment. Jerry Dawson (The fine dance instructor for the press box on friday night) has take over as President. We have invited ths fine organization to join us on friday night and they graciously accepted our offer. We are glad to have them.
We have now expanded our operation and will be open the 2nd & 4th sunday of every month (3:00 to 6:30). We are still after all these years respect other clubs and dance organizations and try not willingly to open against anyone. Course now there are so many it's almost impossible. We would like to give some dancer the opportunity to dance in the afternoon. That's gives them free time in the evening hours to have dinner, watch a movie, watch their favorite tv show and best of all. (They can drive home early evening). We will try and do as much traditional West Coast Swing as possible) I believe it's something we need on the 2nd & 4th sunday. As you know the Los Angeles Swing Dance club meet at the Golden Sails in Long Beach 1st, 3rd & 5th sunday.
